Nazlınur Göktürk, PhD

Hello! 

I’m Nazlınur, a Language Assessment Specialist based in Oxford, UK. I earned my Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics and Technology from Iowa State University, specializing in language assessment. I also hold an M.A. and a B.A. in Teaching English as a Foreign Language from the Middle East Technical University and Hacettepe University, respectively.

My research interests include second language oral communication assessment, spoken dialog systems, the use of artificial intelligence in language assessment, and English for Academic Purposes. 

Before moving to the UK, I worked for the Turkish Ministry of National Education, where I managed projects aimed at aligning foreign language education with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and its Companion Volume (CV). My work also involved developing and delivering in-service training for language teachers, item writers, and raters on the use of the CEFR CV for language assessment, as well as providing guidance to policymakers on the design and validation of large-scale language tests.

In addition to conducting research, I enjoy traveling, hiking, and doing nature photography, especially in fall.
