Current project work undertaken for the Ministry of National Education:

Project III: Promoting Inclusive Education for Kids in the Turkish Education System (PIKTES+) (2023 - 2025)

Funded by the European Union

2023 - present Language Assessment Specialist

• Providing consultancy to the project team for the steps included in the design cycle of a four skill-based Turkish as a foreign language test,

• Contributed to the conceptual framework developed for the construct definition of the test,

• Contributed to the selection of CEFR descriptors appropriate for immigrant children aged between 7-11,

• Conducted a comprehensive literature review on foreign language tests developed for young learners to help stakeholders make informed decisions on the test design process.

Project II: Enhancing Foreign Language Education Quality in Türkiye (2024 - 2028) 

Funded under the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance III (IPA III) by the European Union

2021 - 2023 Language Assessment Specialist

• Planned and wrote up the design process of a total of four English language proficiency tests; three for target groups of students at primary and secondary schools across the nation, and one for English language teachers newly admitted to the profession,

• Led a team of three English teachers to develop and revise the other sections of the Description of the Action Document in accordance with the requirements of the IPA III programming framework,

• Spearheaded effective collaboration with stakeholders, translating strategic goals into actionable language assessment plans.

2024 Interdepartmental Liaison 

CEFR CV Core Trainer Training (March 4-13, 2024; Ankara)

• Facilitated effective communication and collaboration among diverse stakeholders (e.g., project teams, subject experts, service providers, and administrators) for the development of new training content and the delivery of the training. 

• Acted as a central point of contact for all training-related communications, clarifying objectives, timelines, and expectations for all parties involved.

Best Practices in Turkish and Language Education Conference (May 22-24, 2024; Ankara)

• Assisted in establishing reliable evaluation criteria for submissions.

• Assessed the reliability of the abstract review process and provided evidence-based recommendations to improve the reliability and accuracy of the evaluation process.

2023 Teacher Trainer

CEFR CV Trainer Training (Dec 11-17, 2023; Erzurum)

• Trained a group of 20 English teachers on how to use the CEFR and its CV for the planning and assessment of language course outcomes and pass on their knowledge and skills to other teachers as part of a cascade program.

2022 - 2023 Teacher Trainer

CEFR CV Trainer and Trainee Sets

• Managed the development process of a 10-day trainer training set, which was undertaken with the EAQUALS,

• Collaborated closely with an English teacher to extract targeted 5-day and 7-day training content from the original set, ensuring their alignment with training objectives and optimizing the material based on the feedback obtained from field studies.

Best Practices in Turkish Language Teaching Conference (Feb 14-16, 2023; İstanbul)

• Led a team of four Turkish teachers to adapt an existing abstract evaluation rubric and worked with a team of software developers to design an online rating platform.

CEFR CV Trainer Training (Oct 22-28, 2022; Rize)

• Trained a group of 20 English teachers on how to use the CEFR and its CV for the planning and assessment of language course outcomes and pass on their knowledge and skills to other teachers as part of a cascade program.

2022 Core Trainer Selection Committee Chair

• Coordinated the selection process of 25 English teachers who would serve as core trainers and set up recruitment criteria (e.g., English proficiency test scores etc.) to make valid and fair decisions.

Best Practices in Language Education Conference: Action Research (May 16-18, 2022; İstanbul)

• Led a team of three English teachers to devise an analytic rubric for evaluating abstracts submitted to the conference and create guidelines for reviewers,

• Coordinated the review process of the abstracts submitted, 

• Planned and implemented the other academic parts of the conference in collaboration with the team.

• Provided detailed feedback on the translation of descriptors in scales throughout the manual.
