Nazlınur Göktürk, Ph.D.

Hilton Coliseum - Ames, Iowa (2020)

Hello! I’m Nazlınur. I am a Language Assessment Specialist working for the Ministry of National Education in Türkiye. I obtained my Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics and Technology from Iowa State University with a specialization in language assessment. I also hold an M.A. and B.A. in Teaching English as a Foreign Language from the Middle East Technical University and Hacettepe University, respectively.

My research interests include second language oral communication assessment, spoken dialog systems, and English for academic purposes. As part of my job at the Ministry, I oversee various project activities aimed at aligning foreign language education with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and its Companion Volume (CV). I also provide in-service training for language teachers, item writers, and raters on the use of the CEFR CV for language assessment purposes and offer expertise and guidance for the design and validation of large-scale language tests.

In addition to doing research, I enjoy traveling, photography, and trying new recipes from different cultures. You can contact me at nngokturk@gmail.com and follow my updates at https://twitter.com/nazlinurgokturk
